If you are unfortunate to suffer ill health, you can apply for payment of your deferred benefits at any age, without reduction, if you were permanently incapable of doing the job you were working in when you left the LGPS.
If you left the LGPS after 31 March 2008 there is a further requirement that you would be unlikely to be able to have any gainful employment, withn 3 years of applying for the benefit or by your Normal Pension Age – whichever, is the earlier. The meaning of ‘gainful’ employment means paid employment for 30 hours or more each week for a period of 12 months or more.
Your deferred benefits will be paid WITHOUT any ill health enhancement.
